Hi ★
October is Menopause awareness month (?!?) which started in 2009 but this is the first year I’ve heard of it! This could be because menopause is literally trending and the fitness businesses I obsess over know how to stay relevant.
Menopause / women’s health issues have been sidelined for centuries where innovation, funding and research has been limited. As a result, women have been left to learn about their bodies through TikTok (where I first learned the word ‘luteal’), google searches or conversations amongst ourselves.
But that is changing and the menopause market is booming. As it relates to what we cover in Glow, fitness and wellness has a huge opportunity to claim some of this white space in the industry. A subject that was once very taboo is now a growing trend and there is a whole wave of creators dedicated to educating and discussing menopause. Check out @drmaryclaire who has 3.1M followers on IG.
In addition to creators, there are also so many new products popping up, this Women’s Health article explains the market boom and how to pick which products may or may not work for you.
We’ll touch on what some fitness brands are doing this month to… celebrate? But more importantly, menopause awareness shouldn’t start and stop in October. I hope it will continue to show up in how fitness brands design their programming, fit pros work with our clients and how wellness companies develop products.
SO, happy Sunday and welcome to The Glow Report’s new weekly drop time. Thank you thank you for being here!!
<3, Abby
