Mimi Yoga banning filming is so interesting to me because I only know about this studio through social media, so for them to ban filming basically says irl community > advertising (UGC content).
I have taught in studios where filming is banned and I have also taught in studios where filming is pretty much encouraged. I have also taught in studios where there is no policy at all and it leaves students (and us instructors) to figure it out amongst ourselves which just creates tension.
So, what I really love about Mimi Yoga banning filming isn’t the ban itself, it’s the gift of clarity on where they stand on the topic. Expectations are set, instructors aren’t put in uncomfortable positions, and consequences are clear: break the rule, and you’re out, no refund 👏.
Where do you stand on this topic?
